About Me
Born in Shrewsbury in 1986 spent my formative years in Newtown, Powys before
moving to London with my family. Having missed Wales dreadfully I am happy to
say that we returned to Welshpool in 1996. I attended Maes Y Dre junior school
before moving on to Welshpool High School.
My interest in steam trains developed at quite an early age and my parents took
me to steam railways most weekends. But as I matured so did my interest in steam
locomotives and I decided when I was older I would work with steam locomotives.
When we moved back to Welshpool in 1996 our cottage was across the road from the
Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway’s Raven Square station. Of course still
been at school I was restricted to going on the trains at weekends but as I got
older I got more involved with the railway.
After my 16th Birthday I started working as a volunteer on the
railway where I could be doing anything from working in the shops to working on
the locomotives. I also can be seen on the trains as an assistant guard.
Recently I started training as a Station Master/Booking Clerk and I hope to
become qualified in this grade in the near future.
At the present time I have stopped my training on the Welshpool and Llanfair
Light Railway on the locomotives but I am carrying on my training as Booking
Clerk and Guard and I have also started as a volunteer on the
Talyllyn Railway.
The Pages in this website are intended to express my Interest in these two
scenic railways and will also give me the opportunity to share my photographs I
have taken during my visits as a volunteer to both railways and also my diary
will feature reports on my visits to both railways. Also photographs of my visits to
different steam railways which I try to visit during the summer.
